Hi there,
We are just two ordinary fellows (Luc and Philip) who got inspired to take up investing some time ago. We are experienced in the engineering industry and have IT skills. We are both running a separate business.
Since our graduation we have read dozens of books on investing and value investing.
We were both disappointed with the way the financial sector deals with its customers. It is astonishing the strange techniques banks apply for managing their funds
(technical analysis, click funds, fund of the month ->bonus of the month,buying when high prices/ selling when low prices...)
Even at university we were brainwashed when we learned about the efficient market. Fortunately for us, by reading
B. Graham's books we were introduced to the moods of
Mr. Market. and the value investing philosophy.
So we became value investors
(at least we try it to be)!!
But could we find undervalued shares ? This is easy to say, but more difficult to find !
A few years ago, in our quest for the holy grail, we discovered in a bookstore a small book titled, “The Little Book That Beats the Market”. At first we found this a bizarre title for a investment book. Especially when we saw that the author had written another strange-named book titled "You Can Be a Stock Market Genius", we were a little bit suspicious and cautious.
But the book was not too expensive, so we bought the thing....Would we know that this would change our life !
We were so attracted to the simplicity, common sense, ease , and the approach of Mr. Greenblatt and the Magic Formula that we immediately wanted to apply this approach for our investments.
The only problem we faced, was that there were no lists available for european stocks , only for US companies.
We are living in the eurozone, so we don't want to have a currency risk!!
As nobody could helps us (and certainly not our banker), we started the MFIE website, to screen stocks on a value based strategy and to find fellow investors around the world with the same ideas.
