Mission:

MFIE is an independent organization that studies several value investing techniques and theories in order to test and to compare them objectively (mainly on the non-US markets). We are in no relation to the mentioned investors/authors and they are is in no way affiliated with this site. We are also totally independent of any financial institution. It is our mission to make a reliable screening model (database) for value stocks. One of our projects is to make a screener based on Joel Greenblatt's magic formula for European and Japanese stocks, which is in fact based on recognized investment principles in selecting good companies at bargain prices. For obtaining satisfactory results, we make use of the most sophisticated IT applications (DOT.NET) and database structures (SQL). The screeners are updated on a weekly and a we publishing our results on this website.

MFIE project: The development of value investing tools for small investors

According to the US Magic Formula, we start out with a database of 3000 to 5000 listed companies (in the Eurozone and recently also for Japanese companies). We exclude all the banking and insurance companies from our database. The biggest challenge was obtaining reliable data sources. Our final mission is that we want to compare the MF screener with other value investing based screeners such as a Piotroski’s based 9 variables score , Graham’s NCAV Bargains screener , and our own ERP5 screener .
